While training your dog please remember:
* Do not punish the dog. Punishment is not a training aid. It does little to foster willingness to learn and achieve. Limit yourself to a firm “NO” and to using your hands to block the dog’s negative actions. Refrain from hitting or physically abusing the dog.
* Display extreme levels of patience and persistence – never give up; if you do, you are relinquishing your status as the dominant one. The dog is bound by nature and genetics to test how far he can push you or get away with disobeying you. You must display a stern and stoic attitude and do not pat, praise, or reward the dog if he does not pay attention or refuses to do as you have asked. Only yield once your commands are followed. If you “heel” instead of your “dog” then he will soon know who is the boss.
* Be consistent in your training schedule. Always schedule a class at the same time of the day and for a fixed period –your dog will soon recognize that it is the time to learn and will willingly come forward. During training, both coordination and the trainer’s movements have a direct correlation to the dog’s comprehension. So, if commanded “come”, the dog must be gently guided towards the trainer by a helper or by using a leash so that the pet realizes that “come” means that he must go towards the master.
* Be repetitive with each learning block until the trick/lesson is mastered. Some lessons will be learnt quickly while others will take a while. The pattern is different for different dogs and varies from case to case.
* Use rewards and praise as often as required. Praise should immediately be forthcoming when a dog responds to any command. The pet will associate responding to commands with praise/rewards (treats) and will try and respond quicker to reap his rewards. Once a command/trick has been mastered then the treats can be withdrawn. You will find that obeying a command becomes second nature to your dog.
* Keep the lessons simple. To begin with, the lessons should be fairly easy and such that the dog can complete it within two-three actions. As his level of learning increases the lessons could be more complex. Just as our children go, at first to play school, then to kindergarten, and then to the first grade so also in the case of our pets.
* Respect the intelligence of your pet and allow him to think –use his mind. Give time to your pet to figure out what is asked of him. Do not try and help him complete the set task. If you do so, the pet will allow you to do the work for him. If you display patience, the dog will realize what you need him to do and he will obey you directions.
* Treat the dog as you would a colleague/ student. You must, talk to your dog explain what it is all about. Speaking to the dog while training will ensure that the dog keeps his attention focused on you. He will soon master the different tones used by you to give commands.
* Do not plan long sessions –their attention span is short. Therefore, short lessons are learnt better. It is recommended to have short 10-minute sessions repeated 2-3 times a day.
Whether you are a first time dog owner or a seasoned veteran, your learning never stops as far as it comes to training your dog. Each and every dog presents different training challenges, and the more equipped you are to handle these training issues the more likely you are to prevent any permanent and long term future behavioral problems.

Dog Owner’s commonly ask me the same questions repeatedly. This article aims to help dog owners prevent and find information about the most common dog health problems. Understanding the basics of these problems will go a long ways to helping your canine friend live a long healthy life.
1. By far the most common question I get asked from dog owners is a desperate call about their dog’s vomiting. Vomiting can have many causes, but the most common cause is eating garbage, or wolfing down food. In most cases the easiest cure is to withhold food from your dog for 24 hours, but continue to give water. Then after 24 hours, start by giving small meals again. This rest period will allow the stomach to heal. If vomiting continues after this you should see your veterinarian.
2. The next most common question I get asked are reproduction questions. These questions range from breeding their dog, questions about whelping, and about raising puppies. While it is beyond this article to cover everything, here are some basics to keep in mind. Dogs come into heat every 6-7 months which is the time to breed them. The gestation length ranges from 59-63 days. Breeds that can have trouble with whelping are the pug, bulldog, Chihuahuas, Boston terriers, and the Pekingese. Whelping, the act of giving birth, can take from 2 to 24 hours. With several hours in-between the time puppies are passed.
3. Third, are questions about skin problems. These questions range from masses and bumps, to scratches and rashes. Whenever you find a mass on your dog it is important that you show it to your veterinarian. Most masses are benign lipomas, which are fatty tumors. Another common tumor of female dogs are tumors of the mammary gland. You can greatly decrease the risk of your female dog getting a mammary gland tumor by spaying your dog. One of the most common skin tumors owners are likely to see are Mast cell tumors. Mast cell tumors can appear anywhere on the body, and can range from benign to very aggressive.
4. Fourth are questions about the musculoskeletal system. Two possible causes of limping in dogs are arthritis and torn anterior cruciate ligaments. Arthritis is common in older dogs. To treat arthritis try some joint supplements like chondroitin. For dogs with torn anterior cruciate ligaments, surgery is needed. The anterior cruciate ligament is a ligament in the knees of dogs. Signs of this injury is when the dog is running and all of a sudden the dog whimpers in pain and starts to limp on its rear leg.
5. The fifth most common question is about allergies. Many dogs suffer from allergies. The most common clinical signs are the dog chewing its paws, reddened skin, and scratching. For a definitive diagnosis allergy testing can be done by your veterinarian. Allergies are often treated by antihistamines and in severe cases steroids.
With a little knowledge pet owners can be more proactive in the health care of their pets. With greater knowledge you can help your veterinarian come up with the best treatment plans for your pet, and are able to give a more complete history on your pet which can lead to a quicker and more accurate diagnosis.

Ebay is the internet’s largest marketplace, and it’s an excellent place for buyers to find what they want at bargain prices, and for sellers to find buyers. If you haven’t posted an auction on ebay before, It’s fairly simple to post your first auction on eBay. Just do the following five steps.
Step 1: Open an eBay seller’s account.
Obviously, this is the first thing you need to do . If you’ve bought things on eBay, then you already have an account – just log in with it and click ‘Sell’ in the toolbar at the top of the page, then click ‘Create a seller’s account’. If you’ve never used eBay before, then you’ll need to open an account first using the ‘register’ link underneath the toolbar, and then click ‘Sell’ and ‘Create a seller’s account’. The eBay site will then guide you through the process. For security, this may involve giving card details and bank information.
Step 2: Decide what to sell.
For your first little experiment with eBay, it doesn’t really matter what you sell. Take a look around the room you’re in – I’m sure there’s something in there that you’re not all that attached to and could put in the post. Small books and CDs are ideal first items. Once you get more used to how things work, try to indentify which market is right for you.
You need to consider two things in your market choice. The first is market size, which indicates how much demand exists for the products you’re considering to sell. Second, your personal intterest in what you sell. You must balance between those two factors to be successful.
Another thing I noticed on Ebay is what I call the Uniqeness Factor. What I mean by that is how unique are your offerings. If people see a lot of people selling the same item. They will tend to buy the cheapest, and that starts price wars between sellers. A smart seller chooses a smaller, more profitable niche to conquer. When you differentiate your offerings your profits and chances of making a sale will be higher. That’s why starting with your own things at home will be unique enough and wouldn’t cost you much for your first auction.
Step 3: List your item on Ebay.
Click ‘Sell’, and you’re on your way to listing your item.
Before you go ahead and list your item, look at some other existing sellers and learn from them. Notice how they layout their auction page, what keywords they use. Also note their starting prices and determine some of the startegies they use to attract bidders.
Next, choose a category – it’s best to just type in what the item is and let eBay choose for you. Next, write a title and description. Include key words you think people will search for in the title box, and all the information you have about the item in the description box.
Make sure you build an attractive and inforamtive auction page. Use pictures and headlines to highlight the benefits of your product. Answer as much questions a buyer might have as you can. Clearly state your refund, shipping and payment policies and contact information.
Now set a starting price. $0.01 is the best starting price, as it draws people in to bid who otherwise wouldn’t, and items will almost never finish at such a low price. The next thing to set is the duration of the auction: 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. This is up to you: longer sales will usually get more bids, but will also seem to drag on forever. If you’ve taken a picture, add it now – items with pictures always sell for more. Finally, tick the payment methods you will accept (just PayPal is best for now), and where you will post to (limit yourself to your own country to begin with). Submit and you’re done!
Step 4: Wait for it to sell.
This is just a matter of sitting back and letting eBay do its thing – buyers will find your item and leave bids on it. Some bidders might email you with questions about the item, and you should do your best to answer these questions as quickly as you can.
Remember that if your item doesn’t sell then you can list it again for free.
Step 5: Collect payment and post it.
eBay will sent your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item. Make sure you have the money before you send anything.
Once you’ve got the payment, all you need to do is pack the item for posting (make sure to use some bubble wrap), take the buyer’s address from the confirmation email eBay sent you, and write it on the parcel. Put some stamps on, post it, and you’re done!
I hope you will enjoy selling your first item on Ebay.

Statistics shows that websites with keyword-rich articles get more traffic. Yes, the magic word is articles.
Content is king. That is why writing articles is one of the most utilized Internet marketing media today. Internet surfers have an insatisfiable hunger for information. Providing information through these articles is a surefire way to drive hot serious traffic to your web site.
Why is this so? Here are the benefits that writing articles can give your Internet business.
1. It’s absolutely free.
Sounds almost too good to be true? Not. Well, you have to pay for your Internet Service Provider. All you need is your thoughts, your computer, and your hands. If you have those, nothing will stop you from typing words that will make you complete that article for your website. On which aspect of that process did you really shell out any cent? Maybe later when your electric bills come.
2. Your website will be noticed in a short period of time.
Submit that your articles to article directories that get the most web traffic and in no time your web site will be crawled. That is if you don’t forget including your resource box or byline.
3. Obtain back links automatically.
When you submit your articles to directories, other websites will make use of your article too. With the copyright terms of your articles, the URL of your website will still be in tact and will subsequently direct more traffic to your website.
4. Improve your reputation.
An Internet marketer plainly displaying your products on your website will not gain much conversion rate. Conversion is when your traffic converts to sales. You have to show that you are knowledgeable on your field. And what better way to show that than by writing articles that will allow you some bragging rights, right?
Just make your creative juices flow and jot down or key in those ideas quickly to jumpstart your article writing momentum. With those benefits listed above, a writer’s block is the last problem you will ever be able to surmount.

I am always interested in internet marketing.Because the internet market is vast & the potential of financial reward is huge.
I am looking into all the aspect of internet marketing - ‘ Selling on line ‘ so to speak. But I found it very confusing.
Every time you subscribe to a newsletter or a teach you how to make money online courses, the writer/marketeer want to push on to you their product. Whether it works or not.
The more information you get, the more confusion you become.
Besides the technical information about the computer is over whelming,so is the information from all the marketeer in the WORLD WILD WEB.
Who to trust ? Which internet marketing course to spend your hard earn money on ? Will it work ? so many questions but no answers.
Then one day ,I was checking out ‘ A ‘ newsletter referred by another newsletter that I subscrebed to. that’new’ newsletter completly open my eyes.
One of the concept in this newsletter said,’GET OUT OF TRADING HOURS FOR DOLLARS MENTALITY,AND FOCUS ON BUILDING ASSETS THAT MAKE MONEY FOR ME WHILE I AM NOT WORKING.’ it make perfect sense for me.
Say you are making $100 dollars an hour( a very good hourly wage), to earn $500,000 a year, you have to work 5000 hours a year(base on 100 hours a week for a year). To earn $1000,000 a year, you have to work 10000 hours a year. Can you work that many hours ? Difinitely NOT !
Because there are only 8760 hours in a year. On top of that, you will have no time to enjoy life. Most people can’t work 2000 hours per year.
In another scenario,if you build an asset( for exemple, a money making website for a niche market ),it will make money for you while you are working or sleeping. Day or night, no hourly restrictions.
Because one of the beauty of the internet marketing is - Every thing is done automatically by the software & the hardware.
Conclusion - Building assets that makes money infinitely are far better than working for money.

To boost your online sales, create partnerships with colleagues, and increase the overall value of your product or service, add a bonus (or several) to your offering.
Here are 5 ideas for bonuses you can use to increase your sales:
1. Offer a special report.
Take several of your articles with a common theme that complements your offering and compile them into a special report. If you don’t have articles that seem to fit, think of additional information that you did not include in the original product and write it up as a special report. Use your word processing software to write it, then convert it to Adobe PDF to make it look nice (you can convert your documents into PDFs for free at http://convert.neevia.com/). Or offer a special report written by a colleague of yours with information that complements your offering.
2. Offer an audio.
If you are selling a product that is education-based, offer a follow-up teleclass to answer any questions that your customers may have about the material. Or record a special audio to go along with your product that offers some additional material that you didn’t get to cover in the actual product itself, or that is an introductory or overview of the material covered in your offering.
3. Offer a resource file.
If you want to increase your customer’s satisfaction with your product, offer a quality resource list, so they don’t have to waste time and money searching for where to go or who to hire to follow your sage advice. Put together a list of the service providers, websites, ezines, books, magazines. etc. that you personally use (or that come highly recommended to you by your trusted colleagues) and that are related to your product or service. Create a PDF of your compiled resources to offer as a bonus. For example, one bonus that comes with my 21 Easy & Essential Steps to Online Success System™ is Alicia’s 6-Figure File of Recommended Resources, which is a list with links of who and what I personally use to make my business run successfully.
4. Offer a workbook.
Just like so many self-help books do, create and offer a workbook, action guide, success journal, or the like to go along with your product or service. Pull out the main points of your material and create exercises to deepen your reader’s understanding, or create sections in which your reader can add their own thoughts and ideas as they work through your information.
5. Offer a discussion list.
You can do this a number of ways, but the easiest and the one that will require the least amount of effort on your part is to create and offer a discussion list via Yahoo Groups or Google Groups. It’s free and can help to build a community of people who have YOU in common, and it gives them a place to offer each other support. You can pop in and out at your leisure, maintaining and strengthening your relationship with your customers.
Another way to do this is by offering a membership site (which is an article for another issue) as a very valuable bonus. For example, with 21 Easy & Essential Steps to Online Success System™ I offered Charter Membership spots for a reduced membership fee as a bonus.
If you haven’t tried tacking on a couple of bonuses to your offerings, do so and see what happens. My bet’s on increased sales…

The World Wide Web has captivated my attention ever since I was introduced to it by my mother (another WWW freak!). That was about 10 years ago and ever since that time, my interest about all the different things that can be done through the internet has continued to grow.
For the last couple of years, I have been grappling with the idea of making money online. Although I searched and found a lot of information, but most of it was vague and did not give me any concrete answer to the most important question: what to actually DO to make some money on the internet.
During my quest of getting answers, I came across a very informative video on the internet which gave me a lot of information about internet marketing and gave me some pretty good food for thought. The video talked about “Niche Markets”; what they are and why they are important to any person who would like to make money on the internet by selling a product or service. In fact, the concept of Niche Markets is applicable to any business or service provider, whether they operate on the internet or otherwise.
If you look it up in the dictionary, the word “Niche” means “A situation or activity specially suited to a person’s interests, abilities, or nature”.
A “Niche Market” is a group of people with a common interest or ability or nature, who would all be interested in a common product or service. The common interest of these people can be any thing ranging from a common hobby, a common problem, a common cultural background, to any common desire they might have. Let me explain this to you with a few examples:
1) A niche market of people who have a hobby of scrapbooking
2) A niche market of people who have common problem of lower backache
3) A niche market of people who are all Hispanics
4) A niche market of people who have a common desire of learning plumbing
People with common interests tend to cluster and you can easily find pockets of such people online; in forums and groups or visiting websites of their interest.
It is best to direct your marketing to select niche audiences for maximum benefit to you and to them. It is always a waste of time, effort and resources to market your product or service to a niche audience which is not interested in what you are selling. For example, if you try to sell scrapbooking materials to a niche audience who wants to learn plumbing, you will not get any customers. Granted that you will find a rare plumber who also likes to maintain his scrapbook, but you will not make a profit! Similarly, marketing a new and effective acne product to a group of people with lower backache will only lead you to lose the money you spent on marketing your innovative acne solution to them.
Niche Marketing is very cost effective and powerful; the world’s most successful businesses use this concept to maximize their profits. Therefore, if you have a certain product or service that you want to sell, concentrate your marketing efforts to the Niche Market that it caters too. Conversely, if you do not have a specific product in mind that you want to sell online, it is advisable that you seek out large Niche Markets and then think about what they would be interested in buying and then provide them with that particular solution/product/service.
I wish you great achievements and prosperity in all your endeavors.

Do you want to know the best way to sell your product that will almost guarantee you to make money online?
Get a joint venture partner in your same niche market to promote your product to his mailing list.
I can bet you’ll see sales in less than 24 hours if it’s a quality joint venture partner My previous Joint Venture Partner generated US $21,492 sales in just couple of days by just mailing to his list.
I said it’s the best way, but I did not say it’s the easiest way. In fact, it’s one of the toughest ways to achieve this strategy. But — It’s very rewarding. Getting someone to consider promoting your product is a lot of work. I can’t teach all of the joint venture tips in this short content because it’ll take a book or course to teach this. However, I can tell you how to avoid the big mistake and increase your result.
Most people send out joint venture proposals to the wrong JV Partners and lose doing business with them!
You see, I know this because I receive a lot of joint venture proposals. If you’re a long-time subscriber of mine, you’ll notice that I hardly promote or endorse a third party product. The reason is, most of the time the proposal does not meet the expectations. I won’t endorse non-useful products to my subscribers. Never even if I’m paid 100% commission because it’s important that the products recommended will help my subscribers to make money online.
The major mistake I’ve seen is people are trying to joint venture with partners that have a head-to-head competing product rather than one complimenting the joint venture’s existing product!
Example, I have an audio course about niche marketing. At the same time, I’m currently selling other niche marketing courses that I have resale rights to. Then I have a coaching program on this topic as well. So, what’s the possibility of me promoting someone else’s niche marketing course?
Rarely unless there are other perks involved. But let’s say the major influence of considering the offer is to make affiliate commission. That would be my LAST PRIORITY to promote a product that is my competitor and in conflict with what I’m teaching!
Most people approach joint venture partners to promote a product that is competing with the joint venture’s existing product.
So what kind of products might I want to promote that compliment the products that I have?
In this case, I might consider promoting niche private labels rights to my subscribers if I’m teaching niche marketing. Or maybe, software to locate niche markets from the internet. Basically, I’ll consider promoting products that are complimentary, NOT COMPETING.
Seek joint venture partners that have complimenting products to yours.
Like, if you’re selling a blogging software, your ideal joint venture partners would be people who sell courses on how to make money online from blogging.
Make sense?
In this case, I would be able to sell some blogging software as a JV Partner but you’ll definitely get better result by contacting a more targeted partner. You see, the efforts you have to put in are the same… so why not approach a more qualified partner like someone who is in the “How to blog” niche?
You still want to approach as many joint venture partners as possible, but start with the more targeted potential partners first because it’ll be more effective.
Let me give you another example so that you can relate. If your ebook title is “77 Ways To Potting Train Your Dog”, your suitable and quality Joint Venture Partner would be the author of “How To Train Your Dog To Sit And Fetch” because his customer would be interested in your ebook.
Of course, this concept will NOT be applicable if there are other influences in getting the joint venture to agree to the promotion. Other influences can be relationship, high affiliate commission, 2-way JV swap, unique product, additional benefits, free product access, etc.
Finding complimentary product is just one of the important keys of selecting a Joint Venture Partner successfully.
When other influences are in the picture, a joint venture might consider promoting a competing product of his. That’s normal and … logical.
So, are you seeking quality joint venture partners?
Another tip about seeking joint ventures is, start small if you’re just starting out. Don’t approach the ‘big boys’ of your niche market when you’re starting out no matter how tempting it is. Get the ball rolling first because if you spoil your first impression when you approach them, you’re risking to lose doing business with them forever. Get a few small deals done and you’ll be more motivated and inspired to keep it growing. Then, go for the “BIG BOYS” and offer a win/win deal for them.
You “Chan Do” It.

So many people today are sick and tired of scam after scam online. I have wasted thousands of dollars testing home based business programs and I will admit that the majority of them do not work. It has taken thousands of dollars, many hours and a lot of due diligence to sift through the enormous amounts of scams online to find something that was real.
E-currency trading has been a long kept secret by many internet gurus for years and has just recently been made available to the general public. E-currency trading is still remains a fairly unknown, yet extremely lucrative business.
In reality, there are global currency exchanges available that will pay you a great return on your working capital in a short period of time. You are simply making funds available to a global financial network through a number of recognized, reputable electronic currencies. Yes, I’m speaking from personal experience.
The e-currency exchange program works in such a way that you act as a middle man merchant in order to process outxchanges and inexchanges from one e-currency to another. For processing these exchanges, you will collect a 6% fee. For example, if you process a $1,000 outxchange, you will profit 6% of $1,000. That is $60 for processing one exchange. It’s not uncommon to receive about 3 to 4 exchanges per day and the amounts can be much higher than $1,000.
There are two ways to make money in the e-currency exchange program. The first way is through an investment where the user is buying shares in e-currencies across the world. The e-currencies return compounding profits of .1% to .3% per day. If you do some quick math on this, a $100 investment can easily turn into a $500-$700 in a month’s time. The second way to make money in the e-currency exchange program is through a console. Owning a console allows you to act as a merchant processing the outxchanges and inexchanges.
When first getting involved in the e-currency exchange program it can be very confusing to some. I found the terminology and navigation to be a bit difficult at first but once I learned how to effectively use the e-currency network I began to see my initial investment grow. I would recommend starting with a small amount at first until you become familiar with the e-currency system.
There are courses available online that will help anyone whishing to get started in e-currency trading. These courses range in price and a lot of them contain valuable resources.

Acne sufferers today can choose from an array of products and regimens designed for acne skin care, both in prescription and over-the-counter preparations. Whether you are a teenager with typical hormone-driven breakouts, or are battling acne as an adult, you should be able to find a skin care treatment that gives you relief.
Acne skin care products target the problem of acne with several different strategies—some work by reducing the production of the oil glands, others by killing the P. acnes bacteria that cause the acne eruption, and others reduce the build-up of dead skin cells that leads to clogged pores. Several popular skin care products perform more than one of these functions.
The oldest commercial acne skin care treatment, and still one of the most widely available, is Benzoyl Peroxide. Sold in gels, creams, and washes, Benzoyl Peroxide fights acne by killing the P. acnes bacterium on the surface of the skin. It also has a drying and peeling effect, which may help reduce the severity of acne.
Users report that Benzoyl Peroxide can take four to six weeks of constant use to achieve full effect, but that it is a powerful tool in acne skin care when used faithfully. It can be found in commercial acne skin care products, such as Oxy 5 and Clearasil, but is also available in prescription strength.
Antibiotics are another common treatment used in acne skin care. Like Benzoyl Peroxide, they target the P. acnes bacterium, and can be found in gels and creams, but are usually administered as an oral medication. Common antibiotics used for acne treatment are Erythromycin, Clindamycin, and Tetracycline. Another aspect of antibiotic use in acne skin care is their anti-inflammatory effect, which reduces the redness and swelling of acne eruptions that have already occurred.
Additionally, Sodium Sulfacetamide and Azelaic Acid are prescribed to fight P. acnes bacteria, although neither are antibiotics.
Azelaic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Resorcinol, sulphur, and Adapalene are products that approach acne skin care with the intent to reduce clogged pores by peeling or sloughing off dead skins cells. Salicylic Acid is found in over-the-counter acne care products, such as Stridex, as are Resorcinol and sulphur.
While most acne skin care treatments in this group target the surface of the skin, Adapalene, a prescription-only medication, reduces the build-up of dead skin cells inside the pore itself. Also a prescription-only skin care product, Azelaic Acid has the added benefit of killing P. acnes bacteria.
To reduce oil production, there are two common acne skin care treatments: oral contraceptives, and Isotretinoin (Accutane). Of the two, Accutane, a vitamin A derivative, has the most severe side-effects, which include a high risk of birth defects, and is used for severe cases when other acne skin care regimens have failed.
Oral contraceptives work as an acne treatment because they are anti-androgens—they reduce levels of male hormones, specifically testosterone. Increased oil production in women has been linked to elevated levels of testosterone. Not all birth control pills work in the same manner, and the progestins used in some actually act like androgens, so be sure to inform your doctor if you wish your oral contraceptive to serve the dual purpose of acne skin care.
Every acne skin care product available today has side effects, some of them quite severe. Always consult your doctor or dermatologist, and read carefully all labels and warnings before beginning an acne skin care regimen.

There are many factors that cause us to increase body weight, yet three stand out from the rest.
Our genetic make: Every cell in our body has a central control panel, that is a nucleus that contains our genes and chromosomes. This is the instruction manual for your body and this is inherited from your parents. It is this instruction manual that is largely responsible for how your body, and even your mind, behaves.
The environment in which we live: Our personal environment may also contribute or cue you to adopt poor eating or exercise habits. This is especially true in today’s society, which is dominated by speed and convenience. For example, escalators, elevators and remote-control appliances make us less physically active. Also, greater availability and the constant marketing of foods that are high in calories, fat and added sugars, and larger portion sizes promote unhealthy eating behaviors.
There may also be personal reasons why you are consuming too many kilojoules from food and drinks, or not being physically active enough. For example, when feeling down or bored you may eat more than you need, or if you are feeling depressed it is more difficult to get active.
Knowing the reason why you may be consuming excess kilojoules or not participating in physical activity, is an important first step in changing your lifestyle habits to help you reach a healthy weight.
Our lifestyle: What we eat and drink and how active we are. This is the gradual gain in weight as a result of eating food and not exercising enough.
The extent to which we can affect our genetic make up and our environment are limited. However, lifestyle is the area in which we can significantly manage and if need be, improve our body weight to ensure we maintain a healthy weight for our height, age and gender. This is why learning a healthy nutritious eating pattern and adopting it for life, that is, lifestyle changes has a significant impact on our ability to reach and maintain a healthy weight.
Gaining and losing weight works according to some a simple biological principle. When you consume more energy in the form of food and drinks that your body uses each day you will gain weight. When you consume less energy in the form of food and drinks that your body requires each day you will lose weight.
Despite what some advertisers would have use believe, weight loss does not occur as a result of any of the following:
* Supplements that will melt the fat while you sleep or while you wash
* Exercises that don’t take any effort and cause no sweat
* Unique food combinations that will allow you to eat what you want and still lose weight
In order to lose weight you will need to know approximately your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Your RMR is the number of calories your body burns at rest in a 24 hour period. When your body gets about 500 less calories than it needs each day as a result of eating less or exercising more, you will lose one pound of weight per week. To illustrate how efficient the human body is in motion, the average female would need to go for a brisk walk for 1.5 to 2.0 hours in order to burn 500 calories.
When you consume 500 calories a day more than your body’s requirements, you will gain approximately one pound a week! To illustrate how easy it is to gain weight, one 7oz bag of corn chips has approximately 1000 calories. If you ate a bag of corn chips every day in addition to three square meals its possible you could gain 2 pounds in a week!

The human body needs vitamins to function properly. Each of the 13 essential vitamins (A, C, D, E, K, B12, and the 7 B-complex vitamins) provides the regulation of a crucial function. We acquire a majority of the vitamins our body needs from food. When there is a deficiency, we are in danger of becoming seriously ill or even dying. Vitamin supplementation can reverse illness caused by vitamin deficiency, sometimes miraculously. Nowadays, it is very rare to find someone who isn’t taking a daily multivitamin. Since there is a good chance that most of the individuals who take a daily multivitamin are eating a variety of foods, is it really necessary that they take a multivitamin? It may not be necessary, but everyone can benefit from taking a multivitamin.
The obvious benefit of taking a multivitamin is to prevent deficiency. In some situations your dietary needs may increase. Pregnant women, for example, are generally advised to start taking multivitamins in their first trimester. This is to ensure that they receive the proper nutrition and pass it on to their unborn child. By taking a multivitamin every day a pregnant woman can decrease her risk of passing malnutrition on to her baby. However, the benefits of taking a multivitamin every day go beyond replenishing nutrient stores.
With so many advancements, the world is moving at a pace that just gets faster and faster. People often feel like they can’t keep up. They try to do too much and wind up in a stressful condition. Another benefit of taking multivitamins is that it combats stress. There are numerous stress formulations that can keep you mental healthy as well as energize you. In addition to these short-term benefits, taking a multivitamin every day can also reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
While taking a multivitamin on a daily basis makes good nutritional sense, it is not a magic bullet. It is often the case that people who suffer symptoms of illness attempt to cure themselves by taking multivitamins. This can be a serious problem. Some health conditions require special attention. If you have symptoms of illness you should seek medical attention.

It may seem that the significance of vitamins to nutrition health has been known for a significant amount of time. However, it wasn’t until the 15th century that scientists began to realize that nutrients found in various foods could improve health. The classic realization is the one of sailors who suffered from scurvy and improved their condition by eating citrus fruits. To discover the exact benefits a particular food would provide, scientists simulated conditions of nutrient deficiency using animals. These experiments were carried out by feeding the animals one specific type of food for an extended period of time. In all cases the animals’ health declined; some became seriously ill and some died. For those that became ill, the scientists fed them various nutrients until their health improved.
In the early 1900s, British chemist and Nobel Prize winner Frederick Gowland Hopkins concluded from his research that the human body needed a certain amount of specific substances to live. Casimir Funk, a biochemist from Poland who worked closely with Hopkins, conducted an experiment with polished and unpolished rice. The results of his experiments coupled with what Hopkins discovered led him to coin the term “vitamin” to represent the crucial supplemental substances necessary for growth. It would only take thirty years after their discoveries for chemists to begin synthesizing (commercially producing) the vitamins that we know today.
Since the early discoveries, there have been many developments in understanding the value of vitamins. The most recent development is that taking a multivitamin every day can decrease an individual’s risk for conditions such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The vitamin industry is probably a multi-billion dollar industry. Just visit any nutrition center or grocery store that sells vitamins and you will see shelf after shelf of vitamins. There are vitamin preparations for just about ever type of health condition and nutritional need. The reports of the benefits of vitamins are outstanding, but indicate that there may be more to discover about vitamins and their benefits on human life.
Money is a funny thing. It seems to be concrete but it is not. Most people know about fluctuating rates of exchange and interest, but that’s not what I’m talking about. What I mean is that the amount of money that you have is affected by the attention they pay to it. If you ignore your money and don’t think about your purchases, it will be gone very quickly. You might not seem to be spending that much. You might not come home with any major items. Nonetheless, whether you buy a new TV, or you fritter it away one small thing at a time, it will all disappear before you know it.
Until I looked at a debt to income ratio, I had no idea that I had been continually plummeting into debt for the last several years. The thought never crossed my mind. I have gotten a home improvement loan, I had spent thousands of dollars on a state-of-the-art home entertainment system, I had taken a few expensive vacations, and put one kid through college. I knew that I was making debt payments that were higher than I wanted, but I had no idea how far it had gone.
If I hadn’t looked at that income to debt ratio, I never would’ve really realized it. On the surface, it seemed like I was still making enough money to live the good life, but the debt to income ratio showed me the truth. The truth was that my debt to income ratio had grown so dramatically in the last few years that I no longer had the money to support my lifestyle. I needed to eliminate some of that debt!
It took me hours to put all the numbers into a debt consolidation calculator. I had never calculated debt to income ratios before. When I did, however, I was both shocked and relieved. I was shocked to see further confirmation of my high debt to income ratio, but I was relieved to find out that it was possible to dig my way out of debt. All was not lost. My financial future was still salvageable. I got a debt consolidation mortgage loan, decreased the amount of money that I spent on entertainment, and shifted my priorities around. By the time I was done, I had a plan that would shift my debt to income ratio within 18 months. I have not been in serious debt since them. I have learned to keep an eye on my debt to income ratio.
Though you probably won’t find me camping any longer, I used to do it at least once a year with my husband. His band used to host a yearly festival, and we camped for the weekend leading up to the big show. They no longer do the festival, and during those years I learned to loath sleeping on the ground. I don’t mind camping so much as I mind what my back feels like in the morning. Being out with nature and spending the day around a fire with friends is great, but not being able to walk for a week is not something I want to go through again. I also learned that you have to buy special camping cookware when you go, and I learned this buy ruining most of my good pans.
It seems like common sense, but when you are packing at the last minute, as I am known to do, you don’t think about such things as camping cookware. You just suddenly think that you need to take something with you, and you look through what you have in your own home. I had seen camping cookware in the store as we were preparing to go, but I saw no reason to spend the money on it. This was especially true when we weren’t sure how the festival was going to go, and we thought that might be the only time we went camping.
When I used my home pots and pans as camping cookware I ruined quite a few things. One was my favorite boiling pot and I have not been able to replace it. This pot was something my mom gave me, and she had had it from many years before. It was something that was no longer made but it worked like a dream. Because I didn’t buy special camping cookware I had to take that with me. After just one day there were beans burned to the bottom, and I was never able to completely get the burned on stuff to come off. I had to throw it away.
I have since looked at camping cookware but have had no reason to buy any. We don’t do the festival any longer, and we don’t go camping otherwise. Perhaps in the future when our family is older and we have more time we will go camping again, but for right now it’s not looking good. I will also have to get a really great camping bed along with the camping cookware or I’m just not going. I can go for a hike if I want to without cramping up my back for weeks. Until then, I know it’s out there if I need it, I just know I won’t be needing it any time soon.
Have you ever noticed how much we work here in America? It’s actually pretty ridiculous if you sit down and think about it. First of all, have you ever been to a European country? These folks know how to do it right and get it done. They don’t do that whole 9-5 garbage. They work a little and then they eat and socialize. They put in much less time than we do here in teh states. This is what life should be about. I personally think that we Americans spend far too much of our lives in a cubicle or answering to a boss. This is ridiculous and lame. After all, how many lives do you get? My guess is about 1. From where I’m standing that’s not really very many. So, do you want to spend that entire time slaving away, or do you demand more vacations? Personally I would like a nice spa vacation.
Who could use a spa vacation right about now? Ha, that’s about the funniest thing you’ll hear all day. Heck, it’s the funniest thing I’ve said all day. The truth is, and I know a few manly men out there will deny it; a spa vacation would be heaven. Lie back on a nice relaxing bed and let a professional massage away your daily stresses. Smirk with bliss as your feet and back are kneaded gently. Then it’s onto the facial where your mug is utterly pampered by gentle scrubs, masks and moisturizers. Are you having fun yet? This of course is not the end of your spa vacation. You are here for an entire week, right? That’s the way to do it! Soak in a luxurious Jacuzzi and relax in a mud bath. Okay, so you don’t have to do the mud bath thing if it bothers you, but it’s actually quite amazing. I highly recommend it.
There is a place where you can indulge yourself in the absolute best spa vacation packages around. Get jacked into cyberspace and see what all is currently available. You can take advantage of the review websites that inform you of what is best for your buck. There is an outstanding spa vacation that suits your budget if you just look for it. All it takes is the right amount of recon work. So do your homework, and that perfect spa vacation will be yours.

We live on a lake in central Minnesota. This lake is one of the premiere fishing lakes in the state. Many people come here on day and week fishing trips. Most people bring their own boats, but there are others that go out on launch trips or hire one of the many private fishing guides to take them out fishing. This allows for business opportunities for many people that live on the lake, but people should make sure that the fishing guides that are hired know the lake as well as the feeding patterns of the fish.
We had fished this lake for many years prior to buying our home. My husband had been fishing here when he was a young boy. With the modern technology of GPS and lake mapping on marine electronics, it is very easy to find different depths and fishing spots on the lake. After we had lived on the lake for a year my husband contacted one of the local fishing guides and asked if he could enter some his fishing spots on the lake on his GPS. This particular guide has been very successful on the lake. He told my husband that he did not want to share the fishing spots because he did not want a lot of other people fishing where he was. My husband mentioned this to a friend of ours that owns the local bait shop. The bait shop owner laughed and told my husband that this particular guide does not know how to use GPS and so he does not own a unit, which is why he did not share any of the fishing spots. The bait shop owner told us that there are no requirements to pass in order to be considered a guide. He said that many of the people that advertise their services as fishing guides simply take people out in their boats and hope to catch some fish. Some people are more successful at this than others, but there are no requirements.
I was surprised by this information. If I was going to a lake to fish I would assume that the people that are listed as fishing guides would have safety training and other certification in order to take others out onto the lake. You do have to have coast guard training if you have a launch or a boat over thirty five feet, but there are many guides that have twenty foot boats that take people out fishing. This was disappointing to my husband because one of his retirement dreams was to be a guide on the lake. Now that we live here we realize that there are more than enough people already offering to guide. I told my husband that we should look into having an actual service that would provide a more special outing than just a day in a fishing boat. We are going to plan a business around the adventure of fishing rather than just advertising guide services.
Some dangers are hard to prepare for. Life can come at us in so many unpredictable ways. This is why all we can do is prepare and strive to prevent. We do this by taking certain safety measures in our homes, by paying close attention to our surroundings and by staying alert while behind the wheel. These are routine precautions that have remained part of our lives for many decades. The funny thing is we still have far too many car accidents in this country. There are literally thousands every single year. Ninety some percent these vehicular accidents could be easily prevented. It just takes a little common sense on the driver’s part. I would have to say one of the times you’re most susceptible to such dangers is when you first receive your license. This is when a car accident article and video tape are necessary.
It’s pretty frightening when you first start driving. I recall not knowing what in the world I was doing. After watching the standard driver’s ed videos and reading a car accident article or two, the words DANGER and FEAR were lingering in my mind. I wanted the freedom that the license brings, but I wanted nothing to do with the dangerous part. And yet many teenagers do. After all, they must, right? This is why they go out and drink, then drive. Forgive me, but I don’t buy the whole giving into peer pressure garbage and invincibility complex. I too was a teenager and I never gave into the drinking, drugs and smoking peer pressure. I just knew better and so does every teenager. It comes down to a simple choice. I watched three high school seniors, who apparently missed the car accident article and videos in driver’s education, die from drunk driving. They flew off the road going about 95 and hit a cement wall. Two of them burnt to death and the one with no seatbelt went through the windshield and splat on the cement wall. That’s reality for you.
Read a current car accident article. Find out the harsh statistics regarding unsafe driving. Learn to always take on the responsibility when you climb behind that wheel. This is a great responsibility after all. You not only hold your life in your hands, but maybe the lives of several others in your car, or on the road.
