online gaming?

First there was Atari! Yep, it all started back in the 70s with games such as Pong and Asteroids. I can still recall hearing my older brother rant about how great these retro arcade games were. When I was around seven years old, I actually had an Atari of my own. I think my absolute favorite game back then was Pitfall. It had the whole Indiana Jones feel to it. Then there were other greats like PacMan and Berserk. I played these games for a short time. That is until something much more exciting hit the scene. I’m talking about Nintendo. Yeah buddy, this system was the bomb when I was in the fourth grade. I killed that control pad every night, playing Super Mario Brothers. It’s like the game never got old. Well, needless to say, it did in fact get old; and along with many others after it. Now it’s all about the Xbox 360 and Play station 3. These are the consoles on millions of Christmas lists this year. But that’s not all. There’s also a bizarre concept known as online gaming. Are you up for a serious video game battle with someone across the globe?

I’m not big into the new-age online gaming scene. I watched it in-person recently for the first time. During a Christmas party, I spotted some teenagers going at it. They were taking turns playing some gory sniper game against someone on the web. It was intriguing I must admit. It’s fascinating that we can vie with our peers in all-out video game battles, regardless of where we reside. But don’t assume that you’ve got game, because some of these online warriors know how to bring it. They’re ruthless to say the least. Who’d have guessed that the online gaming scene could be so competitive? Heck, the only game I’ve ever tried on the Internet is chess. Sadly the guy I played beat me after like two moves. It was utterly pathetic on my part. There are some real pros in net-land.

Were you aware that some individuals play video games and turn to online gaming for a living? It may sound funny or ridiculous, but there is much money to be made in video game competitions. It’s a phenomenon that’s growing as time moves on. Are you up for the challenge? It could mean big bucks.

Chess is the worldwide game of choice?

Games No Comments »

Chess is more than a game of skill. It is a medieval history lesson in a miniature form. The best part is that it is a game that can be played by young and old people. The history of chess goes back to medieval times.

While you can have tournaments, the grand game is almost always played with two players one on one. It has even been used to settle arguments. Of course when all else fails, chess is also a good game to pass time. That is why it is popular in jails all across the world. You can go in any country in the world and they know of or play chess.

There are chess sets everywhere and anywhere. Some are made of marble resin, while some of plastic, but the most common are made from wood. All chess sets have the same result to get people to play it. And play it they will in world contests school contests state contests. Or just among friends.

Bobby Fischer was my favorite player as he was world champ for years, and is probably the most well known chess player ever. And had the IQ of Albert Einstein. He was the only American to be a world champion chess player. It was because of him I bought my first chess set. I always wanted a marble set but I could not afford it. Thankfully a plastic set is good enough to play well. You can play with any set and get the same results.

Growing up this game was alway one of my favorites to play. I was the second best player in my grade school. And the best in our school was the Missouri state champ that year. I was the only one in our school who could beat him. He just beat me more than I beat him. That is one of the great things about chess. You can beat your friend today. And the next day he can beat you. You do have to pay close attention, as one mistake can cost you the game. Just like in life, One mistake and you can pay for it the rest of your life. Everyone needs to have a chess set in the house, it brings people together to have a great time.

Games No Comments »

Chess is a classic board game that has been played for a long time. It is a strategic game putting two players against each other with the ultimate goal of putting the other player’s “king” piece into checkmate. Each player starts with 16 pieces on their own side either being black or white. The white pieces will move first.

There are six different pieces in a chess set for each side and each has it own set of unique movements. The back row consists of two rooks, two knights, two bishops, a king, and a queen. The front row consists of only pawns. Pawns may only move forward one space at a time attack diagonally. Rooks can move as many spaces as wanted by the player but on in a horizontal or vertical movement on the board. Knights may move in an L shape consisting of 3 spaces up and 1 space over.

Knights are also the only unit that can jump over other pieces. Bishops can only move diagonally for an unlimited amount of spaces. The queen can move any direction and as many spaces as wanted. Finally, the king moves any direction but with only a movement of one space.

Each player takes a turn being able to move one piece. The ultimate goal is too place the other players king into check mate. That means the king piece can’t move without being attacked. A check is an impending move that forces the king to move so to avoid being attacked.

Chess is a fun and simple game to learn and enjoy. A chess sets can be bought anywhere and are relatively cheap. It is a game that has been around for a long time and will continue to be around.
